Description
Tea – Yancha Wulong
Harvest – Spring 2023
Origin – Ma Zhen Feng, Zhengyan
This Rougui comes from the Zhengyan protected area of Wuyishan. Due to the impervious nature and small size of this area, the tea produced here is not a large amount. Zhengyan tea, especially Zhengyan Rougui, is highly prized because this terroir can give tea a special flavor called Yan Yun, a name that can be translated as the “melody of the cliffs”.
Some teas you can drink lightly, some are so rich and flavorful that you must give them all of your attention to absorb the complexity of the cup and slowly sip through them in a focused session. Just like you cannot eat a whole meal in a bite but need to savour it slowly.
This is one of those satisfying teas, a blend of complex flavors with a pronounced charcoal roast and the rich fragrance notes of Rougui enriched by Yanyun and cozy roasted depth, that sing the ecstasy of the soul and senses.
Recommended for experienced drinkers. We strongly suggest to save a cup from the very first infusion/rinse aside to drink as last at room temperature.
Price is for 50 g.

Cultivar | Rou Gui |
Name | The name Rou Gui 肉桂 means "cassia", a type of chinese cinnamon. Zheng Yan 正岩 means "true rock/cliff" and indicates the tea grown in the World Heritage protected area considered the best location for yancha. Here the tea grows in narrow pits at the bottom of tall steep rock cliffs taking its name. |
Brewing tips | We reccomend saving the first infusion to drink as last after it cooled down to room temperature, this way we think the yanyun flavor will be more clear and will end your tea session on the highest note as the first infusion is one of the best! |
Packaging | The tea comes in a tin like the one in the picture. Be careful when opening the tin: please use a tool acting as lever to open the tin instead of your nails. |
